I’ve enjoyed shooting at the Loch Lomond Arms for, longer than I have actually been in business for myself. This beautiful part of the country has been a very popular wedding destination since I first picked up a camera. The Loch Lomond Arms is not just beautifully appointed inside and out but it also nestles in the stunning little village of Luss surrounded by the most dramatic Scottish Countryside. It is the perfect host for your wedding photography, already ‘set dressed’ to feel the part. I’ve shot weddings here in rain, shine, snow and even named storms (bottom right pic) – its not raining, its ‘moody’. Its not a gale force wind, its ‘dramatic’ !
If you want a feel for how a wedding day at the Loch Lomond Arms tends to unfold, I wrote a short piece from my point of view here – Inside a Loch Lomond Arms Wedding

Lynn and Martyn married here in 2024 – this is what they said….
Well where do I start…..
5 minutes after meeting Stuart we knew he was exactly what we wanted in our wedding photographer so it was a no brainer and we couldn’t be happier we booked him.
He just made us feel so at ease and understood our vision for the day. On the wedding day he was a pleasure to have there and he captured exactly what we wanted (an evening shoot in Luss village and by the tree where they discovered they were having a son)
To say we love our photos is an understatement we couldn’t be happier with them he understood what we were looking for and he definitely delivered. I must have looked at them hundreds of times (and I’ve only had them a few weeks) and they captured the best day ever perfectly! Thank you for everything Stuart.
Why the Loch Lomond Arms needs to be on your wedding venue shortlist
The Staff – the wedding team at the Loch Lomond Arms are amongst the most dedicated and hardworking teams I have come across. Multi ‘Confetti Award’ winning, they are there to make sure every aspect of your day, runs to your plan and smoothly. Highly skilled, experienced, friendly and professional. These guys will be friends for life after the day.
The Views – Set in the village of Luss, the Loch Lomond Arms not only has a beautiful space around it, it has one of the most picturesque villages in Scotland on its doorstep. Within walking distance you have the iconic Luss church, Loch Lomond and views to Ben Lomond and surrounding mountains
Food and Drink – Just fantastic. From amazing seasonal and traditional Scottish fayre and fine dining to amazing local whiskies and gins. I’d recommend this place for lunch as highly as I would for a wedding!
The spaces – with the Library, Inchconnachan and Sutherland suites available the venue can host weddings from 2 up to 150. so whether its an elopement or a massive (wild!) party, you are covered. Luss Estates also has seasonal availability on some of the islands on Loch Lomond, a beautiful Slate quay and rustic spots throughout the area. Check with the venue as some the options available are mind-blowing.
FAQs
Aka, the daft things that pop into your head at 2am
Where are the best spots around Luss for photos?
You’re spoiled for choice. The little jetty, the path by the church, and even the back lanes of the village all make brilliant backdrops — and I know a few lesser-known spots too, in case the pier is (too) busy. I’ll guide you to places that don’t take you too far from the action, so you’re not away from your guests for long.
When’s the best time for photos at the Loch Lomond Arms?
This really depends on your ceremony time and the season. Light here changes fast — especially in autumn and winter when the hills steal the sun early. I’ll help you plan around that, but golden hour in Luss (when we get it) is something special. We’ll make the most of whatever the day gives us.
What happens if it rains?
It’s Loch Lomond, so let’s be honest — you are not getting married in Scotland for the weather. The library (worth checking), reception room fireplace, and even the interior of the hotel all make for great backups. I bring lighting just in case, but sometimes the best photos happen when everyone leans into the weather. (Brollies provided, obviously.)
Can we get photos at the pier or the church?
Yes — and we’ll do it with care. If you’re getting married at Luss Parish Church, we can often take a short stroll to the pier afterwards. If your whole day’s at the hotel, we’ll factor in a quiet moment to nip across the road or wander through the village. I’ve done this many times and know how to build it into the day without disrupting your flow.
Have you worked at the Loch Lomond Arms before?
Well, obviously, plenty of times. I know the staff well, I know the layout in all seasons, and I know where the light will be (and where it won’t). That means less guesswork, less faffing, and more time for you to enjoy your day. If you’d like a fuller sense of how the day tends to unfold here, this blog post will give you the gist Inside a Loch Lomond Arms Wedding.
Bonus Tip
Locals and visitors to Luss are well versed and used to weddings, brides and groom walking past their front windows. 99% of tourists who come to the area are also very accommodating. If we are respectful to the locals and patient with the tourists we almost always get cooperation with anyone and everyone – so you need not be worried about going for a tour of the village all dressed up. Its half expected, half routine and always a lots of fun. Meet with me before the wedding day in Luss (I can piggy back onto your final details meeting with the Loch Lomond Arms) and I can then show you some of the secret spots that deliver fantastic pictures.
