A Glasgow-based photographer working across weddings, business, and portraits throughout Scotland.
Most people I photograph start by saying some version of “I don’t like having my picture taken.” That’s completely normal. In fact, it’s kind of the point. My job isn’t to turn you into a model, it’s to make you feel comfortable, keep things moving, and produce the kind of photographs you’ll actually be proud of (like these guys)
If you are looking for a parallel? Imagine writing an About Me page that is designed to make you sound warm, friendly, approachable and skilled without sounding like a complete prat…. you can be the judge of how successful I have been.
So if you’re looking for a photographer who doesn’t take himself too seriously, but works to a very high standard, I’m your man.
About Stuart and 1500 Photography
Origin Story
“I bought my first camera when I was 12 years old, (the somewhat clunky, built like a tank, Zenith EM). A couple of years later, at 17, I got my big break when the local newspaper published my picture of Princess Anne (half page on the front page no-less!) when she was visiting the area.”
“This inspired me and I took a job working for a highly respected local wedding photographer – the closest thing to a photography apprenticeship that you could get at the time. It was here that I learned the traditional ways of photography; shooting on rolls of film, wet processing, printing – and carrying the camera case for the boss. After 3 years of training, at the age of 21, I was given my first wedding* to shoot.”
“Since then, I have never stopped learning, continually putting myself through training courses, personal projects, and I continue to push myself to be better and better.”
*True fact : in the days of film I used to shoot an entire wedding in 60 exposures. These days I will likely take 60 shots before you even have your dress on !

1500 Photography Awards won by Stuart Wood
“I started 1500 Photography in 2007 and within 3 years, I was honoured to win MPA Scottish Wedding Photographer of the Year. Along the way we have picked up numerous awards for both my image making and my customer service with 1500 Photography.
I don’t really like to talk about my awards (haha much!) but I do love to write them all down. Drum roll please…
