I have to confess that I want to capture your baby ‘naturally’ I wont be tying them up like a pretzel and stuffing them into a flowerpot (no offence to those who love that kind of picture – its just not for me) I am happier catching your baby as their personality is coming to the fore. From 3 months onwards is the perfect time for a 1500 Photography baby portrait. They can often sit up and allow various changes in clothes without too much drama. You will get more from the sitting and a bundle of fantastic pictures.

KIDS PORTRAITS
You are never too young to ‘just do you’
Sticking to the theme of naturally capturing your kids as they grow. Nothing is ever going to beat those moments you catch on your mobile phone but, setting aside time to record their lives is something you will come to love for years and years to come.
A play date, a trip to the park, kicking up autumn leaves, making angels in the snow, picking daffodils or bluebells. Any time of the year works. The session can take place in the house, the garden or a local park and after the shoot you choose your faves from your own private gallery.

The Full Family
The only thing about taking 100’s of pictures on your mobile phone is that
1. You never print anything from those pictures
2. When you change phones you often ‘loose’ the pictures and
3. Usually you are taking the pictures.
So there is always someone missing from the shot. After the 2020 pandemic I cannot stress enough how much of a comfort it was to have some beautiful family pictures around the house. You just never appreciate seeing your families faces until you cant.

You can’t get them to do anything, never mind posing for photos!
In the US, they call them “Senior” portraits (which, let’s be honest, sounds more like something for retirees). But this is actually one of the most important times to get your teen in front of the camera. After all, this might be the last time you can persuade them to do it, at least until graduation!
PETS!! DON’T FORGET THE FUR BABY
He’s a very good boy
Often when we talk about family pictures the first member of the family thrust in front of the lens is the family pet. Usually the dog.
And do you know what? That is fine by me.
I love animals and I love to shoot pet portraits (from tortoises to horses) I have a whole section on dog photography at weddings on this page but it boils down to 2 simple rules.
Plenty of space and plenty of treats.
If we can have both those things then we are onto a winner.
What do all these pictures have in common?
Hopefully you can see that in all these pictures everyone is happy relaxed and enjoying themselves. People get quite wound up about having their picture taken and often insist the best picture is the one they dont know is being taken. I disagree. I think the best picture is the one you are enjoying yourself. It’s my job to capture that, and I promise, you’ll love the results.
