Carrick Castle Wedding
Our first wedding at Carrick Castle (in fact the first wedding at Carrick Castle!)
Susannah and David were the first ever couple to have their wedding at Carrick Castle and boy, did they set the bar high. My brief from the couple was a little different from usual in that they were very firmly focused on documentary style photography and were not keen on posing – at all. I had to persuad them to allow me a 5 minute session during the day for a few bride and groom shots. But except for that 5 minutes it was up to me to ‘capture the moments as they happen’
Fortuately this is a couple who are very much loved by their friends and family and there was always lot of fun and laugher and loads of great expressions everywhere you looked. The couple pretty much had a free hand from the venue and so they had organised their own marquee from tents and events, caterer, room decor and flowers from The Woodland Flourist. The Carrick Castle Estate looked absolutely sensational.
What i havent mentioned so far was that as we started capturing the usual bridal preparations with the fab Leeanne Fraser we had an film crew in the room too. Susannah was being filmed for a TLC show called Second Chance Dress where a previously loved dress is chosen by the bride for her day. To be honest the film crew, although bulky, were pretty discreet and we worked well together (I would say not one noticed them – until they got their car stuck in a ditch and had to be pushed out by the groom and ushers, haha). The couple themselves were absolutely amazing to work with. David has such a fantastic laugh and it filled to the brim with Irish charm and humour. Susannah looked absolutely wonderful and, despite her reservations about being in front of the camera, was a joy to photograph. After some amazing speeches and a sumptious buffet style dinner I managed to whisk the couple up the hill behind the venue for a wonderful set of dusky images over Loch Goil. It was probably the first time all day that the couple got 10 minutes to themselves. It was magical.
A huge thank you to Susannah and David and to Hannah at the Carrick as well. I am absolutely in love with this venue and (full disclosure) its one of the very few venues I have actually stayed at myself. I rate it very highly and cannot wait to get back. You can find out more about this wedding from the Carricks point of view at their blog, but I encourage you to check out this amazing venue for yourself.
