Rosslea Hall Wedding with Lorna and Callum
Lorna and Callum didn’t have far to look when choosing where to get married, its was always going to be a Rosslea Hall Wedding – the very same place that Lorna’s parents had celebrated their vows in 35 years before.
Callum proposed on the Italian island of Burano, near Venice, complete with a ring. They had been on holiday for several days before Callum popped the question. The engagement ring had been stashed in his wallet, making its way through airport security without attracting any attention.
“I had no idea he was going to propose,” Lorna said.
They chose a July 2017 wedding date at Rosslea Hall almost exactly two years after their Italian proposal.
As part of planning their wedding, Lorna visited several bridal shops, finally finding her Ronald Joyce dress at Brides of Scotland in East Kilbride on a visit with her mother. “I had a dress in mind beforehand and ended up with one similar but with different details”.
Lorna also chose four bouquet charms she had spotted on Pinterest, which contained photographs of family members who had passed away: two of Lorna’s grandfathers, her Great Aunty Helen to whom she was very close and Callum’s grandfather, who had been a father figure to him.
Lorna’s grandfather ‘Grampee’ who had passed away in October last year was also remembered with couple portraits near where he used to fish.
Lorna’s main memory of the day is laughter. “There was so much laughter in the day, not just Callum and I. You’re with all your family – it’s so fantastic you get everyone together”. Callum’s family travelled from South Africa for the wedding with his young cousins taking part in the ceremony.
Photographer Stuart contributed to the atmosphere too: “He had us in fits of laughter all day. He put everyone at ease”.
Lorna loved the team at Rosslea Hall. “You have such high expectations beforehand and they totally delivered”.
