Carlowrie Castle Wedding
Danielle and Simones Carlowrie Castle Wedding was simply one of the most beautiful, lavish and aspirational weddings I have ever shot. Danielle is not only absolutely gorgeous but is also such a lovely person to be around too, making my job on the day pretty easy. Simone is also a cracking gent, so warm and friendly with bags of charm. Together they make a sensational couple and when you add St Andrews Cathedral and Carlowrie Castle into the mix it would have been hard for me not to produce and outstanding set of images.
The build up to the wedding was however, far from ideal. Without dwelling on the sadness the couple had originally booked Cameron House. When that became unavailable, alternative arrangements had to be made. Carlowrie Castle came to the rescue and from that moment on it felt like it was ‘meant to be’. On the day we started with some shots taken at Danielles sisters house which gave me a taster of what was to come. Such a lovely group of friends and family and a bride who lit up he room the minute she walked in. And that dress!! Oh my !! I knew that with only a few shots in the can that this wedding was going to be something special.
The Wedding Ceremony at St Andrews Cathedral
Arriving at St Andrews Cathedral (which is always fun to try and park at) we enjoyed a fairly formal ceremony with a few unintentional funny moments (the blessing of the rings doubled as a quick shower for the bestman) before making our way along the M8 to Carlowrie. In all honesty – the journey time was pretty standard. Most wedding venues outside Glasgow take about 60 mins to get to and this was no exception. Once there however you have Carlowrie exclusively and with the ivy on the building lit up bright red in September it looked sensational.
We were working alongside our good friend Andy from Glasgow Wedding Video and we worked seamlessly together around the venue with the couple, securing our formal groups and catching all those impromptu moments. The set of images with Danielle taken infront of the red ivy was originally planned for after dinner. But after checking sunset time on our phones, we realised that we best do then while we still had the light. I am so glad that we did.
The Dapper Groom
The Sing Waiters Appear !
The room was sensationally decked out by Supernova and before dinner got started we had some amazing speeches. Then (unknown to the guests) we were then entertained by the Singing Waiters. I tell you – nothing gets the party into full swing quicker than singing Italian opera to a room ful of genuine Italians. Magical ! After dinner we took Danielle and Simone out for a few floodlit shots of the magnificent Carlowrie before the party really kicked off. And boy – what a party.
This was for me a real high point. Not just of my year but of my photographic career. You dont often work with a couple who click instantly into what you are trying to do and effortlessly work alongside you to produce such wonderful images. I honestly dont know how Danielle and Simone are going to be able to squeeze all their amazing pictures into one album but, thats a good problem isnt it?
