Winter Portraits – Ewan

Just becuase its getting a wee bit chilly outside it doesnt mean to say that (outdoor) portrait season is over. We took little Ewan to Pollock park to have some fun running about in the cold sunshine, kicking up leaves and skipping through puddles in his wellies.

Ewan had a great time and we got some brilliant shots. There is something beautiful about the low winter light at this time of year. And now we have snow !!!!!!

What are you up to this week? Fancy a portrait ?………

Portraits – Hamilton Portraits

Here is an odd wee story for you.

The last sitting I shot (Little Jack) had his pictures taken in Paisley at his grans house for convenience, even though he lives in Hamilton.  Jacks mum then recommended me to her next door neighbour. So, I travelled out to the very outskirts of Hamilton, almost 30 miles and an hour away, only to be met by someone I went to school with. In fact her best friend and my best friend were an item at high school. I don’t think we had seen each other since we were both about 15…..small world, as they say.

Anyway, back to the pictures. And as you can see once again we came up trumps shooting young kids in their own environment. We started off baby Katherine’s pictures with her in her party dress, before a few nappy shots in between a change of outfit. She was a lovely little girl but boy was she mobile.

Our next sitting was also in the Hamilton area but fortunately not too far away. ………..In fact it was next door.

Portraits in Paisley & Hamilton

Our next sitting was little Jack. He was an amazing baby to photograph. So much so that he now graces the front page of our revamped 1500.com site !

Jack was 5 months old at the time we took these shots – the perfect age (in my opinion) for baby pictures, is anywhere from 3-6 months.  At this age, although still a baby, they can usually support themselves, have formed a wee personality and have recognisable features that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

You don’t know Jack but I suspect you can already get a sense of his personality from the shots above.

Jacks mum then recommended us onto 3 of her friends to have their babies photographed too and as a wee thank you received a framed 12×10 as a token of our appreciation.  I’ll post up the 3 sittings soon.

Potraits at Home – Paisley, Glasgow and Hamilton

Next we were off to Paisley again to photograph some regular clients (or their kids at least).

Over the last few years I have taken family pictures when every new arrival reaches 2 months old.

It seems like only yesterday I took pictures of their eldest daughter Lauren when she was that age. Now with the latest addition to the family, James, having his picture taken at the same age, its amazing to see how quickly they change in such a short time. A good reminder of how important it is to regularly photograph children as they grow.

Now that the family is complete I wonder if I will be able to persuade mum and dad to come into the shots…?

Potraits at Home – Paisley, Dunbartonshire,Glasgow and Hamilton

Next up was Andrew and Anya. Two wee smashers who we photographed in the comfort of their own home. Again having everything to hand in the house means we can catch the kids drawing and playing, then wellies on, playing in the rain then back inside for party dresses.  All trauma free and easy for you without the hassle of travelling back and forth to a studio.

With two such lovely little subject it would be hard to go wrong, but Andrew and Anya were fantastic fun. I think the kids enjoyed the sitting too and I know mum and dad were happy but the main objective of this sitting was to provide gifts for the grandparents.

We provide free online galleries to all out clients to help show off their images to friends and family.

Arran Portrait – Portraits at Home

Then I was then honoured to be invited to Arran to capture Colin’s 70th birthday celebrations. Colin’s family had travelled from all over the world for this special occasion. After taking the boat over to the island, Emma very graciously came to collect me from the ferry. We then travelled through some ‘biblical’ rain to get to Colin’s village. Unfortunately we had hoped to take pictures in and around various Arran landmarks but the weather ruled that out, so we made do with indoors.

As luck would have it, just as we were wrapping up, the weather broke. We managed to get some shots outside on the village beach where the whole family grew up and got some cracking shots of Colin and Elizabeth looking out to sea.

A lovely family and a great occasion to be a part of.

Portraits at home – Paisley Portriat

A wee break from the weddings with a couple of portraits. First we have the beautiful little Neve photographed at her home in Paisley. What an absolute cutie and so well behaved too. As with all our portrait clients we recommend that,  rather than get all dressed up and drag yourself off to the phony studio environment – you should relax and let us come to you.

That way any changes of clothes or toys required and the general familiar environment helps puts kids at ease. It is also a lovely way to ‘bookmark’ that point in your life too. The context of a home portrait doesn’t seem that valuable until a few years later – that couch, that wallpaper, those toys etc.
