I think Nicolas getting ready and bridal shots are some of the most beautiful I seen this year.  With Nicola and Bryan getting married at St Josephs in Milngavie we know we wouldn’t have a lot of scope for pictures at the church (it sits right on the main road) and that the Winnock Hotel would be full of the wedding guests. So it was very important to get some nice shots of Nicola at home, then of the couple at  Drymen. We managed to get both…..and then some.

Nicola was an absolutely stunning bride and had chosen a beautiful dress (and bridesmaids dresses), Bryan looked very much the part in his kilt and both had a great friendly personality which really comes though in the pictures. After a full mass at St Josephs we took a slight detour with just Nicola & Bryan to Balmaha before making our way back to shoot the last of the wedding pictures at the Winnock in Drymen. A great couple who were very generous and patient and gave us some brilliant images – thank you. Im just disappointed that it was too late to put some of their shots into this years awards. Roll on 2011 !!

Balamaha wedding by 1500 Photography

We started the day a Heathers parents house in Erskine before making our way up to Glasgow Uni. After a beautiful ceremony during which a Church of Scotland service was complimented with a Catholic blessing, we made our way into the University quadrant. The only downside to shooting a wedding in possibly one of the most picture-esque and specious areas of Glasgow is that the Uni is actually on a hilltop. A windy hilltop. However once again I have to pay tribute to Adrian and mostly Heather who braved the ‘stiff breeze’ to gift us some fantastic shots. We then ushered the couple to their car where, no sooner had we shut the door of the bridal car, the heavens opened!!Perfect timing.

Once again Glenskirlie were excellent with the bridal party once we arrived at the reception venue and we enjoyed some more excellent pictures in an around this stunning hotel. It is days like Heather and Adrian’s – where you meet genuinely lovely people (fantastic bridesmaids), stunning venues and get to take wonderful pictures that – you remember that being a wedding photographer can be the best job in the world.

Once again we started off at the brides home before we moved onto the church. As you can see from below Rhona’s parents garden in Dunlop was spectacular, in fact the temptation to insist we returned to there to shoot the entire wedding was almost overwhelming.

After the ceremony we used a little area next to the manse before heading to the city and to Oran Mor. With its stunning ceiling and some very nice nooks and cranny’s  we always get some great shots there. Before the wedding both Rhona and Ally seemed a little reticent about having their pictures taken – however, I need not have worried. On the day itself Rhona and Ally were really into it and gave me some brilliant shots. We also had the added fun of a close up magician (Kevin McMahon) bamboozling the guests while the waited for dinner. We started off at Mairi’s parents house before heading off to Ardgowan Evangelical Church in Greenock. As with our previous wedding, Mairi and Ally also had a small post service ‘cup of tea’ reception immediately after the ceremony. We then took a slight detour to the esplanade before heading to Sherbrooke Castle. I haven’t been to Sherbrooke for a few years and it was great to be back – especially now that the upgrade work has finished.

Im sure you will agree that Mairi looked simply stunning, a very classic beauty with Alasdair scrubbing up pretty well too and cutting a real dash in his kilt. I must also mention both families, who were so helpful with the lead up to the wedding and on the day itself with Mairi’s very accomplished family providing much of the music throughout the ceremony. It was an excellent day all round, surrounded by such a lovely bunch of people. Superb

We started the day at the Thislte Hotel in the city centre before heading to Holy Cross church. Not a huge distance to travel…….unless of course “Take That” are playing at Hampden at the same time. Our original plan of using parts of Queens Park was quickly dismissed and we simply used the beautiful grounds of Holy Cross which was perfect. After taking some pictures back inside the church (by very kind permission) we headed back to The Thistle.

On the day itself I had wonderful help from two brilliant wedding professionals –  Wendy the wedding planner from Utopia Scotland and Aiden Livingston, probably the best toastmaster in Scotland.  With their help and Sam and Willies planning we got some excellent shots on a beautiful wedding day and, despite a little spanner in the works, a great set of pictures too.  www.1500photography.co.uk
