Lyndsay & Andrew – St Marys Kirkintilloch/Winnock Hotel, Drymen

What a lovely day this was. Great couple, really nice attendants and two lovely families.

As per our standard service we started the day at Lyndsays mums house getting those final preparation pictures before we made our way for the wedding at St Marys in Kirkintilloch. After a lovely ceremony there we headed to Balmaha for the couples shots before heading back to the Winnock Hotel for the reception. I love shooting down at this spot in Balmaha.  There is a special quality in pictures when you take shots near the water.

I know I often spend a lot of my time on here gushing about how great my couples are but I reckon I must be one of the luckiest photographers in Britain. Lyndsay and Andrew were just so nice and the bridesmaids (esp Jo) were so helpful. The last shot in the series above has to be the last one though, the shot immediately afterwards has Lyndsays garter wrapped around her foot! The garter then spent the rest of the day in Andrews sporran. Unfortunately the hankie/garter mix up we were all hoping for never materialised.

Winnock Hotel Wedding, Drymen – Bryan & Nicola

Just a lovely wedding.

I think Nicolas getting ready and bridal shots are some of the most beautiful I seen this year.  With Nicola and Bryan getting married at St Josephs in Milngavie we know we wouldn’t have a lot of scope for pictures at the church (it sits right on the main road) and that the Winnock Hotel would be full of the wedding guests. So it was very important to get some nice shots of Nicola at home, then of the couple at  Drymen. We managed to get both…..and then some.

Nicola was an absolutely stunning bride and had chosen a beautiful dress (and bridesmaids dresses), Bryan looked very much the part in his kilt and both had a great friendly personality which really comes though in the pictures. After a full mass at St Josephs we took a slight detour with just Nicola & Bryan to Balmaha before making our way back to shoot the last of the wedding pictures at the Winnock in Drymen. A great couple who were very generous and patient and gave us some brilliant images – thank you. Im just disappointed that it was too late to put some of their shots into this years awards. Roll on 2011 !!

Wedding at Buchanan Arms – Paul and Catherine

For the second time this year we attended a wedding at the Buchanan Arms Hotel in Drymen.

We started the day at Catherine’s mums house (as usual with 1500 Photography) then made our way to Our Holy Redeemer church in Clydebank before heading for the Buchanan Arms. Once again we got some stunning shots at the area across from the hotel and some cracking views from the top of the hill.

A lovely day with the hotel being exceptionally helpful as usual.

The Buchanan Arms Wedding Pictures – Isla and Paul

When I was a young whipper-snapper (get it?) I used to shoot a lot of weddings up at the Buchanan Arms, but I havent been there for a few years now. In fact I shudder to think how old Paul and Isla would have been when I was a regular shooter at Drymen…..

Anyway, what a superb day we had. Despite both half’s of the wedding party running a little late and an extended service (although to be fair Paul is a trainee minister, so its only right that priority was given to ceremony) we still found time to head up to the viewpoint, nip over the hill to Balmaha, take some cracking shots, arrange a full group outside the hotel and still finish bang on schedule.

And what a sumptuous backdrop for the pictures Balmaha proved to be – well worth the trip.

Not bad eh? To be honest I could have posted 20 pictures from just the Balmaha shots alone, I am exceptionally grateful for all the enthusiasm and effort Paul and Isla put into the pictures and for all the assistance lent to us by best man David. I had actually feared at one stage we may have cut the Balmaha trip out to catch up on time. I am so glad we didnt (mostly at Paul and Isla’s insistence) and we were well rewarded with some beautiful images.

My very best wishes to Isla and Paul now both studying hard back down in Blackpool.
