Cameron House Wedding – Christina & John

Our next wedding at Cameron House was for Christina and John, who came all the way from Longbeach California to be married by the shores of Loch Lomond. This was a trip back ‘home’ for John who has family here and originally hails from Bishopbriggs. So John already knew about the vagaries of the Scottish weather, Christina’s family however…… my goodness did it ‘chuck it down’ for them.

With the ‘big party’ planned for back in the States the ceremony itself was lovely and intimate but with the Rev Ian Miller officiating and special guests appearing via web cam it certainly wasn’t dull !!

As is typical the day before the wedding was lovely and the day after the wedding was lovely, but the day of the wedding……. you could barely see the other side of the Loch!! John and Christina just took it in their stride though and fortunately Cameron House looks great indoors so with most of the photography taking place inside we all at least stayed dry and got terrific shots.

Such a nice day and such a nice couple. Cheers Christina and John !

Carole & Campbell – Knockderry House Wedding

Back over to a Knockderry House Wedding on the shores of Loch Long and the Clyde.

A lovely intimate day with Carol, Campbell and their children. It was so nice that all the kids had major roles on the day – from the best man, ushers and bridesmaids to readings at the ceremony and with Knockderry providing that exclusive feel to the day, this really was a ‘family affair’. It also meant a day of great fun and intense emotion.

This was also the first time we had been in the newly refurbished bridal suit at Knockderry and what a great job they have done – commanding views, tastefully decorated and very much in keeping with the style of the house. Hats off to Karlyn Evans at re-decorate on a tremendous job well done. After the ceremony we nipped across the road and down the beach for some lovely dramatic scenery looking out over the Loch. Terrific day!!

Boturich Castle Wedding – Lynsey & John

My first Boturich Castle wedding. Stunning day, Stunning wedding, amazing couple.

Boasting probably the best views possible of Loch Lomond this venue is a real ‘hidden gem’ which I am lucky enough to have almost on my doorstep. Lynsey and John had come up from Yorkshire with most of Lynseys family coming from Sweden for the wedding.  I am so pleased that Scotland turned on  the style for them.

As you can probably tell it was a blistering hot day but the heat, drinks and outdoor feel to this wedding made the whole day such a relaxed affair it was hard not to be jealous of the guests!!

Due to the unique conditions of the day we knew we were going to get an awesome sunset. What we didnt bank on was the awesome dancing display put on by John and best man Scott to the tune of ‘Cotton Eye Joe’ ….. I can honestly say I have never seen anything like it before – they were amazing !!

And so was the sunset……This goes down as our favourite picture from the day.

Waterfront Loch Lomond (Balmaha) Wedding – Lynn and Ian

This was our first wedding at the Loch Lomond Waterfront at Balmaha and what a stunning view we were rewarded with for our pictures !! Lynn and Ian held a simple beautiful wedding right on the shores of Loch Lomond with just their closest friends and family.

This is what Lynn had to say about 1500 Photography after her wedding album was delivered to her.

We absolutely love the album. The whole thing looks amazing, from the actual album itself to the photos inside. When we started organising the wedding we were going to pay a keen photographer a couple of hundred pounds to take some shots on the day. The more I thought about it the more I realised how important the photos were as they would be the one thing we would keep looking at forever to remind us of the day. And also show our children, once Megan is old enough (and baby number 2 who is due at the end of march!). This was definitely one of the best decisions we made and just wanted to say thank you for your great work.

Real Life Wedding Feature – Victoria & Darren’s Cameron House Wedding

We are delighted to have our award winning wedding featured in the latest issue of the Real Life Weddings magazine.Victoria and Darrens wedding which scooped ‘Best Complete Wedding’ , Classical Wedding image of the year and winning me the overall Scottish Wedding Photographer of the Year is spread over 7 pages.

This is a great showcase for all the suppliers on the day, Cameron House and of course for me and my work.

Having lived with the pictures for a long time now its a real treat to see them in a different light. The RLW mag has used predominately colour images where I have been using mostly the black and white images from the day. I am really please with the way the magazine has put this feature together. However it offers so much more info, ideas and inspiration than just my pictures. Well worth a look for all brides to be.

Moorpark House Wedding – Ashley and Richard

In an idea shamelessly ‘inspired’ by wedding magazines, I thought I would mix up the blog a little by introducing a “Featured Wedding”. A chance to perhaps tell a bit more of the story from the day and showcase both the brides planning and attention to detail along with our work.

Our first feature is on Ashley and Richards wedding at Moorpark House in Ayrshire. And who better to tell you about the day than the bride herself, Ashley………

WHERE WAS IT & WHY ? : Moorpark Country House. I had a country house in mind from the start, partly because we wanted a relaxed wedding and partly because we had so many family members coming from America and Canada we wanted a property that was a little taste of Scotland. Moorpark managed all of this without being old fashioned and austere. And, provided the perfect size and exclusivity we are after.

THEME OR STYLE: Summer garden party

BRIDE’S DRESS : Not the wonderful experience I was hoping for! I searched high and low for a dress that was a bit different and ended up buying a reasonably plain and traditional dress (not really what I wanted) to then have a huge bow commissioned for the back. Even that was a problem, no seamstress was brave enough to make the size I wanted! I wanted a talking point, something people wouldn’t forget and I certainly got that!!

BRIDE’S SHOES: Good old Monsoon peep-toes with pearls. Perfect

JEWELLERY/ACCESSORIES: Originally a lot more than I wore! Once I saw the dress I had to change my jewellery choice to something more simple. I did wear my Great Gran’s engagement ring which is over 100 years old, that was my something Old, borrowed and blue.

MEMORABLE MOMENT: Both our favourite bit is when I reach the top of the aisle and we see each other for the first time. Nothing seemed scary after that.

HAIR & MAKEUP: My friend Lynne did a our make-up for us. It was great to have a friend rather than a stranger helping on our big day, plus she did an amazing job! I was originally going to wear my hair up but had to change last minute after seeing the size of the bow on my dress! My bridesmaid had her hair done by the same hairdresser, Emma, and it was beautiful!

GROOMS DUTIES: Turn up, remember the rings and make a speech. All of which he did very well!

THE FLOWERS: Hand tied bouquet with roses, freesia and sweet peas which smelt amazing. the colours were soft peach and cream tones

THE CAKE: Marks and Spencers!

INVITATIONS & STATIONERY: Everything was done by me, with a little help from family and friends.

FAVOURITE PICTURE: Too many to pick from! I don’t know!!! Erm -You do it!

So here it is – the brides (and photographers) favourite picture from the day…………

Cameron House Wedding (Celtic Warrior) – Sarah & Martin

What a lovely intimate wedding !

Sarah and Martin had come down from Aberdeen to get married on Loch Lomond at Cameron House. They then provided the couple with the Celtic Warrior luxury cruiser for a lovely jaunt across the Loch after the ceremony. As it was a bridal party of 9 it meant that I could get some pictures with the couple on the boat too.

After a tour around the Loch on the boat it was back to Cameron Houses Boat House for a relaxing drink before dinner. Sarah and Martin had come all the way down from Aberdeen such is the pull of Loch Lomond. I am very grateful that they chose me to shoot their wedding.

Dalmeny Park Wedding – Pamela and Steve

I used to shoot loads of weddings at Dalmeny Park when I worked over in Paisley, so it was a great pleasure to go back for Pamela and Steve’s wedding earlier in the summer. As a photographer in Scotland trying to keep up with the vagaries of the Scottish climate can drive you insane…..and this day was no exception. Fair play to Pamela and Steve though. When the rain did come the couple simply brushed it off and continued with the shots as if nothing had happened.

The black and white shot above was Steve’s idea. He thought it were possible to see both him nervously waiting and Pamela arriving – and he was right. The rain put paid to our plans of doing a full group of everyone so instead we shot all Pamela’s family, all Steve’s family and finally all of their friends. This meant everyone was captured, no one was missed out and we had a record of everyone at the wedding.

House for An Art Lover – Catherine & Simon

It was back to House for an Art Lover for Catherine and Simons wedding.

Simon’s sister is Leanne (married to Keiran at Glenskirlie) whose wedding we shot a few years ago and whose pictures won us quite a lot of attention and picked up a few awards…..so no pressure with Simon and Catherine’s pictures then!!

Catherine looked absolutely beautiful and arrived in style in a classic VW Camper van.

After the ceremony we nipped over into the walled gardens next to House for An Art Lover before back inside the venue itself utilising some of the nooks and crannies of MacIntosh’s wonderful building. It was a great pleasure to shoot this wedding especially as our pictures from the day were so nice, yet so different from Leanne and Kierans. I am very grateful that Catherine and Simon choose the same photographer.

Brig O’Doon Wedding Photography – Susanne and Kevin

Cracking couple and a cracking day for this wedding at Brig O’Doon

Susanne and Kevin enjoyed one of the nicest days of the year during their spring wedding  in Ayrshire. We got some absolutely beautiful shots of Susanne getting ready at her mum and dads, just around the corner, before nipping back to get some great shots of Kevin outside Alloway Parish Church.

Anyone who has ever been to a wedding at Brig O doon will tell you that the day always runs like clockwork, they have weddings down to a fine art. With such a beautiful day we knew we were going to get great shots around the venue but what we didnt bank on was how much fun we would have with Kevin and Susanne. They are such a friendly couple full of life and always ready for a laugh (you can probably see this from the pictures) – it was a great day. In fact I think I would have loved to have been a guest at this wedding – sunshine, champagne, string quartet and a lovely outdoor setting. Top day.
