St Patricks Church Dumbarton to Cameron House – Emma & Thomas

What a fantastic day we had with Emma and Thomas, shooting their wedding at Cameron House. We began the day with Emmas bridal prep shots at home before making our way to the ceremony at St Patricks in Dumbarton. When we go there we completely lucked out with the weather and got some fantastic shot in the grounds of this 5 star venue. We even had a wee bit of luck and got some shots on the jetty without the seaplane.

Emma and Thomas were an absolutely cracking couple and I think it shows from their pictures that we had a really good time with them. One of my most abiding memories from this wedding was actually 24 hours after the event. I returned to Cameron House to shoot another wedding the next day and waiting between shots I bumped into Emma in reception, checking out. She then hoisted her (now packed up) wedding dress over her head (!) and headed out into the heavy rain.

Its funny how quickly things change. Not just the weather but what you can do with a wedding dress too…….

Murrayshall House Hotel – Lorna & Dean

Lorna and Deans Wedding at Murrayshall House Hotel in Perth was a brilliant chilled out relaxed day

With two great familes and (thankfully) a dry day we were delighted to be shooting our first wedding at this venue.

Lorna and Dean were so lovely, happy to work with us to get some great images and with Cameron House function manager Matt as brother in law/unofficial coordinator it was a day which ran super smoothly. I do hope it is not too long before 1500 Photography is back at Murrayshall.

Boturich Castle Wedding – Rebecca & Craig

Wedding Photography at Boturich Castle, Loch Lomond

Well this is one wedding I feel a wee bit sad about blogging. Craig & Rebecca and many of their guests had come  all the way over from Canada for their wedding and the Scottish weather really let them down big style. It was such a shame as they are such a lovely couple but at least I know that I didnt let them down and gave them a great set of picture pictures, Lynda the celebrant didnt let them down with a lovely service and Boturich certainly didnt let them down with providing everything they could have wanted.

I am really happy to say though that the weather did nothing to dampen the spirits of the couple or their guests. It was a lovely humanist ceremony by Lynda finishing with a traditional hand-fasting before the couple  braved the elements for some shots outside. I have to doff my cap to Rebecca who was great to photograph and who had not problems at all adopting an umbrella and getting outdoors for her pictures

I guess the couple may have been expecting inclement weather as they had specially made umbrellas made with Scottish and Canadian flags to give to each of their guests as favours. We than stayed to cover the brilliant wedding speeches and some of the dancing at night, with  music supplied by the Jiggers, who were excellent. Our final shot of the day was Craig and Rebecca outside with sparklers. I have to say that although this was a tricky shot to get right the results are……. sparkling?

McIntosh Church Maryhill to Eagle Lodge Bishopbriggs – Stacey and Scott

Our next wedding was at McIntosh Church in Mayhill. This is a wee bit of a hidden gem that you have probably driven past without realising its a McIntosh building. It was the perfect backdrop to Stacey and Scotts pictures before we headed over to the Eagle Lodge in Bishopbriggs for the reception. Stacey looked absolutely stunning as we captured her final preparations at her folks home before making our way to the church.

Once there we had time to grab a couple of great shots of Scott before the humanist wedding took place. After using the interior of this stunning building it was off to Eagle Lodge and, luckily for us, the weather held until we got the pictures finished outside. A great day out with a top couple.

Dumfries Arms, Ayrshire Wedding – Rona & Andrew

Dumfries Arms Wedding – Rona and Andrew

Our first visit down to the ‘D.A’ (Dumfries Arms) and what a lovely venue it was too. We started off in Rona’s bridal suit to capture some of the ‘finishing touches’ shots before catching Andrew and the lads arriving.

There are a couple of things that really stand out for me from this wedding, Ive already mentioned the venue, but I also wanted to mention the guests and couple themselves. The were all lovely. I dont think Ive ever been at a wedding with a more relaxed wedding party. The bridesmaids were super efficient and friendly, the best man couldn’t do more to help us and the general crowd itself were all great. It goes without saying that Rona and Andrew were absolutely terrific to work with and there shoot was an absolute joy from start to finish.

I would shoot Rona’s wedding again tomorrow if I could, what a lovely day.

Glynhill Hotel Paisley, Wedding – Camille and Martin

We went to Renfrewshire for our next wedding. The lovely Camille married Martin at the Glynhill Hotel in Renfrew.

I remember well that the Glynhill always used to be a difficult venue to shoot a wedding at, due to the lack of grounds available. However, I am delighted to report that this is no longer the case. A great little garden area has been arranged at the back of the hotel giving us a terrific little spot for some of shots and to relax in. Camille also liked the idea of using a larger garden area so we also nipped up to the walled gardens at Barshaw Park for some extra shots of just the couple but I was really impressed with what the Glynhill had done.

As you can see it was another stunning spring day and the cold champagne went down an absolute treat (I’m told). After our little detour to the walled gardens at Barshaw Park

A lovely day with a really, really nice couple. I am so pleased that Camille and Martin had such a good day for their wedding. Sadly this was the last time we saw the sun for the next good while. Although we have often been lucky with the weather on the day of the weddings, its been an awfully poor Summer.

St Andrews Cathedral to Glenbervie House Hotel – Ashleigh and Davie

Our story of Ashleigh and Davies wedding at Glenbervie was featured recently on the fantastic ‘We Fell in Love’ Scottish Wedding Blog (you should really bookmark it!!)

Hopefully their images and a bit more of their story will be appearing soon in the best Scottish magazine around – The Scottish Wedding Directory. So, at the risk of totally over exposing them, I thought I would add them to my own blog (before they get too famous!). It is one of the few occasions where we didn’t attend the ‘bride getting ready’ first and instead focused in on the groom at the church. It brought a whole different flow to the pictures of the day which I really enjoyed.

Wedding at Glenbervie Wedding at Glenbervie Wedding at Glenbervie

This was the first of two visits we had to St Andrews Cathedral in the space of a few days (see Hazel, below) but it was the first time I had worked and Glenbervie and I must say, what a pleasant experience it was. Lots of interesting nooks and crannies for our couple to pose in and a fantastic lawn to play with and a peacock – I loved it! You can see what a handsome couple Davie and Ashleigh make and it was great to be involved with a couple who were so particular about their photography, bringing their own ideas into the shots and setting aside plenty of time for the pictures.

I will leave the last word on the wedding to Ashleigh who, when asked about how her and Davie got together answered with this great wee story  -

“We bumped into each other in a nightclub that we both love (The classy Shed in Shawlands). A song that we liked came on which we both started to dance to. We were dancing back to back and literally bumped into each other! We both apologised and then had some cheeky chat: Davie: “I think you’ll find I was dancing here first so you will need to move” Ashleigh: “haha I think you’ll find I was dancing far better than you so you’ll need to move!” Davie: “Well there is only one way to settle this, a dance off!” Ashleigh “haha you’re on!” … we still disagree to this day on who actually won the dance off!”

This was just one of those weddings where everything ran smoothly, absolutely to plan, really nice guests who helped, a stunning couple and fantastic weather.  A ‘perfect day’which appropriately enough was the ‘marryoke’ song they performed in the evening for the fabulous Gee-Whizz Wedding Video

Little did I know then that this was about the only sunshine we were to see over the summer months…….

St Andrews Cathedral Glassgow to Lodge on Loch Lomond – Hazel & Chris

What a wonderful scorching day we had for Hazel and Chris’s wedding at St Andrews Cathedral in Glasgow. With the couple both getting ready at the Grand Central and having their reception at Lodge on the Loch, we were spoiled for choice when it came to photo opportunities.

Hazel looked absolutely beautiful, Chris looked very dapper and St Andrews looked truly awesome.

As you can imagine the stunning weather meant that Loch Lomond was absolutely heaving. However once we got back to the Lodge and some welcome shade Chris and Hazel worked with me to produce some simply lovely images. Its funny writing up this blog in July when have been suffering through one of the worst summers I can remember. It makes me look back with even more fondness to Hazels wedding.

Lodge on Loch Lomond Wedding – Lianne & Richard

Here is a little taster from Lianne and Richards lovely wedding at Lodge on Loch Lomond

Despite running a little behind schedule Richard dutifully waited at St Josephs Church in Helensburgh before we made our way over the Luss Pier for the formals shots and Lodge on the Loch for the reception. Something happened on the pier however which was an incredible sight. As we were just getting into the flow of the shots of the day very large boat got closer and closer to the pier. Obviously it had passengers to drop off, in fact, it was a boat full with another wedding !! Two full wedding parties on the one pier. I wonder what the tourists would have made of it?!

Glenskirlie Wedding – Heather and Jonathan

I’ve already posted a picture from Heather and Jonnys wedding at Glenskirlie and so far its been the most popular picture I have ever put up on our facebook page, Heathers dog – Vinnie !!

We got some absolutely cracking shots in Heathers apartment before we got to Glenskirlie. What an amazing differecne it makes to your day when the bride is ready on time and has allowed 15 minutes for pictures before she leaves. Heather looked absolutely beautiful and was accompanied on the road to Glenskirlie by two beautiful bridesmaids and her Gran Ena who is such a character and a great laugh!

After a lovely humanist ceremony we took Heather and Jonny up to their honeymoon suite for pictures. Although not the suite Heather was hoping for we still managed to get some lovely shots in the darker room before using the lift and staircase for some striking pictures.  Heather and Jonny are such a lovely couple and Heather was an absolutely stunning bride. The day was a day full of sparkle brilliantly planned by Heather who with Supernova events had organised one of the most amazing room set ups Ive ever seen at Glenskirlie.

Congratulations to you both !!
