Blair Atholl Wedding, Atholl Arms – Lizzie and Dave

Sometimes I should just let our clients do the talking  :

Oh Stuart, I cant put into words how they made me feel. They took us back to the moments so entirely we were there again, feeling all the love, hearing the laughter, seeing the smiles and tears, forgetting my lines! They are so wonderful they made me cry after the second the page. Even Dave was choked. I also couldn’t believe how good we looked!! Considering we dont really like having our photos taken!

We had some guests round last night who had been to the wedding and they were blown away by the photos, they also said how nice you and Gillian were, how unobtrusive you were and how relaxed you made everyone feel, you fitted in so well. There are photos which I didnt know were being taken and some I was gratefully surprised by.  You captured one of the best days of our life, magically, forever, and have given it to us to relive everytime we open the book, or put on the dvd.
To say thank you is simply not good enough. We were so blessed to find you, not only are you and Gillian both such nice people you are extremely talented,  you are also intuitive to know that which would mean so much to us. Thank you so much.

Lochside House Wedding – Catriona & Martin

And to the last wedding of 2009 for 1500 – Catriona and Martin down at Lochside House.

And with a top couple too. Both Martin and Catriona have a brilliant sense of self depricating humour and great wit which makes them superb company. With Catrionas wedding we started off at her parents farmhouse in Cumnock.

We must have looked a sight as we made our way over to the broken down shed at the edge of the farm, me in my  suit and Catriona in her wedding dress and wellies, but its lovely textures lead to a beautiful picture. Then onto Lochside to shoot the rest of the day before the sun went down and let us in the dark.

Its probably no secret Lochside House is one of my favourite venues. Its not just the beautiful scenery, rolling hills or dramatic Ayrshire clouds, but the staff at Lochside are always first rate. The wedding co-ordinator Linsey is a star and always makes sure the day runs smoothly without being bossy, a rare quality indeed.

So that brings the curtain down on the 1500 Photography weddings for 2009.

Watch the space for the “Shot of the Year” competition which we will have throughout February.  1500 Photography

Glenskirlie Wedding Photography – Mairi & Gavin

For Mairi and Gavins wedding we were back to Glenskirlie House hotel.

We started the day at Mairi parents house in Balloch as she was putting her finishing touches together. A calmer bride I cannot remember meeting before a wedding, totally chilled and carefree. Gavin on the other hand………

Gavin had also unfortunately walked into the open boot of his car a few days before the wedding and a little more photoshop cosmetic work was required with this groom. Still all’s well that ends well.

With a really friendly family and a brilliant couple to work with this was a great wedding to shoot.

Moorpark House Hotel Wedding – Alison & Kenny

A new venue for 1500 Photography - Moorpark House in Ayrshire.

Alison and Kenny had a lovely wedding with lots of personal touches which made the day really memorable, from ‘God only knows’ by the Beach Boys during the ceremony to Alison’s  scarlet shoes !!

A really friendly and relaxed wedding with a lovely couple who were an absolute joy to work with. I should also pay tribute to my ‘assistant’ on the day, Ms Barry. A very capable deputy who helped me with the wedding as Gillian couldn’t make it – thanks Sheila

We also had to deal with best man Colin’s cuts and scratches. Unfortunately a few days before the wedding Colin had a minor mishap resulting in the need for some photoshop cosmetic work.

Strangely we had the exact problem the very next wedding with the groom………

Gleddoch House Wedding Pictures – Lesley and Steve

Another cracking couple, and a pleasant return to Gleddoch House.

Steve and Lesley are a lovely couple based in London who returned to Lesley’s neck of the woods to tie the knot.  As usual we started off at Lesley’s parents house to catch the finishing touches of her preparations before making our way to St James in Renfrew (a church Ive passed many times but this was my first visit). After the ceremony we made our way to Gleddoch, making sure to stop at the top of the driveway to include some of the grand vista in the pictures.

Again meeting with the couple at the venue before the wedding paid major dividends allowing us the look at which areas we could use in good weather, bad weather and where we could shoot a full group of the entire wedding party. With Lesley and Stave both enthusiastic about their photography, they were a model couple and brilliant company, who couldn’t have been nicer. They even asked us to stay on as guests for the evening !!

Brig O’Doon Wedding Photography – Karen and Gary

Back to weddings and back down to Ayrshire.

For the second time this year we were at Brig O’doon House Hotel in Alloway.

With all of Karen and Gary’s wedding taking place at the hotel we knew we would still have great scope for pictures in the grounds. We just managed to get all the shots we needed on the bridge before the rain came on, we then ducked under the ‘big tree’ to finish off our groups.

Karen and Gary were great to work with on the day and, as usual, Jane at Brig O’Doon kept a tight reign on the proceedings to ensure the day ran smoothly. With a really nice mix of guests our job on the day was made really easy by both family’s easy going nature. A lovely day.

Cameron House Wedding/Celtic Warrior Loch Lomond

Its weddings like Simon and Natalie’s that remind you why you love your job so much in the first place. With their kids Ewen and Erin and both of their Dads in attendance, Simon and Natalie got married on the Celtic Warrior on Loch Lomond. This very small wedding party lead to a wonderfully warm and memorable day, The civil ceremony took place on the boat before we headed back to Cameron House for pictures and The Boat House for dinner.

There were so many lovely little moments on the day including Ewen being quickly promoted to assistant captain and steering us home, the captain, quite literally, moving the mountains (turning the boat) for my pictures and of course two cracking older gents with a very dry sense of humour. Most of all though the day will be remembered for the brilliant couple we met, Simon and Natalie. They were an absolute pleasure to shoot on the day and I look forward to meeting up with them both again soon.

Brig O’Doon Wedding – Jane and Ally No 1

The week of Jane and Allys wedding became “Alistair week” at 1500 Photography. Over the following 5 days we had 3 grooms in a row called Alasdair/Alastair. First up were Jane and Ally, with Jane proving to be the model bride. Not just that she looked like a model, posed like a professional and looked effortlessly beautiful but never blinked in one single shot all day. Amazing.

After a lovely ceremony at Merrylea Parish church Jane and Ally treated their guests to a cup of tea and cakes in the local church hall before we headed down to Ayrshire’s Brig O’doon where the couple were well looked after by the wedding co-ordinator there (also called Jane). After a couple of quick shots on the bridge we headed into the back gardens of the hotel when we captured some more terrific shots.

Lochside House Hotel, Wedding – Chris and Gill

A really really nice couple. Gill and Chris are from the Hull area but had chosen to have their wedding at Lochside House in Ayrshire with just close friends and family (before having a major party back home). Plaudits have to go to Gill straight away for wearing the biggest dress I have seen this year.

She looked absolutely amazing in her ‘Hollywood Dreams’ style dress and boy did she carry it off.  It was also a refereshing change to have the groom in a morning suit (as oppse to a kilt).

Finally I got to pose a groom with his hands in his pockets !!!

As is usual with Ayrshire, the weather changed every 10 minutes but between wind, rain and shine we managed to escape outdoors for a little while and capture some simply stunning shots. The fast changing weather made for some fantastic sky’s as you can see from above.

Chris and Gill were just brilliant to photograph and  really enjoy themselves. Despite previous reservations Chris relaxed and we we got some cracking shots of him and the only way to sum up Gills pictures is ….WOW!!

As usual the staff at Lochside looked after everyone and made sure the day went smoothly, before the couple sat down to an intimate dinner and an evening casio!

Brilliant couple, lovely family, super venue and just a great day. Thanks Gill and Chris

Cameron House Wedding – Lynda and Satwant

What a day we had with Lynda and Sat !! I have never seen rain like that before in all my life ! We have shot many weddings at Cameron House but never one as ‘dramatic’ as this.

The day started off relatively calm with the groom, Sat being escorted to church by a piper and drummer along the Main St to Cardross Parish Church. Dressed in brown kilts the entire wedding party looked superb making their way to the wedding. We then headed up to the bride and got some shots of Lynda getting ready too.  After the ceremony the couple mingled with the guests for a few minutes before leaving the church with a traditional ‘scramble‘. Then the clouds moved in and this was the scene that greeted us at Cameron House…..

It was torrential !! Fortunately the couple got escorted from the car to the entrance by the excellent Cameron House staff, the poor photographer on the other hand………..

Once we dried off a little and everyone got their breath back we took a tour of the interior of Cameron House and came up with some new and really nice pictures. As we usually have such a stunning vista to play with we dont use the inside of Cameron House as much as we should, however on this day, as there was no vista, we knew it was all going to be indoor shots.

However, being 1500 Photography we werent satisfied with stunning indoor shots.

I mean, come on – it is Cameron House, it is pretty much on our doorstep and it does have ‘that’ vista…… so we popped up again in the evening and took Lynda and Sat out onto the jetty. As you can see 4/5 hours after the deluge it was a beautiful evening and the perfect way to round off the pictures of the day.

Congratulations to Lynda and Satwant a lovely couple who were an absolute joy to photograph. Their great humour and supportive family made what could have been a traumatic day a pleasure from start to finish…….even with a soaking !!
