Portraits – Hamilton Portraits

Here is an odd wee story for you.

The last sitting I shot (Little Jack) had his pictures taken in Paisley at his grans house for convenience, even though he lives in Hamilton.  Jacks mum then recommended me to her next door neighbour. So, I travelled out to the very outskirts of Hamilton, almost 30 miles and an hour away, only to be met by someone I went to school with. In fact her best friend and my best friend were an item at high school. I don’t think we had seen each other since we were both about 15…..small world, as they say.

Anyway, back to the pictures. And as you can see once again we came up trumps shooting young kids in their own environment. We started off baby Katherine’s pictures with her in her party dress, before a few nappy shots in between a change of outfit. She was a lovely little girl but boy was she mobile.

Our next sitting was also in the Hamilton area but fortunately not too far away. ………..In fact it was next door.

Portraits in Paisley & Hamilton

Our next sitting was little Jack. He was an amazing baby to photograph. So much so that he now graces the front page of our revamped 1500.com site !

Jack was 5 months old at the time we took these shots – the perfect age (in my opinion) for baby pictures, is anywhere from 3-6 months.  At this age, although still a baby, they can usually support themselves, have formed a wee personality and have recognisable features that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

You don’t know Jack but I suspect you can already get a sense of his personality from the shots above.

Jacks mum then recommended us onto 3 of her friends to have their babies photographed too and as a wee thank you received a framed 12×10 as a token of our appreciation.  I’ll post up the 3 sittings soon.

Oran Mor Wedding – Laura & Stephen

Our first wedding of 2010 was Laura and Stephen who got married at St Johns-Renfrield church in Glasgow before receiving their guests at Oran Mor. It was during all the snow we had at the turn of the year which made things ‘interesting’ – not just for the pictures but general movement on the day was a little challenging too.

Laura looked absolutely stunning and the day ran beautifully. She had booked us after we shot her cousin Jacqueline‘s wedding in summer 2008 and she was impressed with the job we did for her. It was also lovely to see Jacqueline and Jonathan again, as they had made the trip up north for the wedding.

After everything that Laura and Stephen had to deal with in the run up to their wedding I was so pleased for them that the day itself was perfect. A great day and a top couple.

Wedding at Buchanan Arms – Paul and Catherine

For the second time this year we attended a wedding at the Buchanan Arms Hotel in Drymen.

We started the day at Catherine’s mums house (as usual with 1500 Photography) then made our way to Our Holy Redeemer church in Clydebank before heading for the Buchanan Arms. Once again we got some stunning shots at the area across from the hotel and some cracking views from the top of the hill.

A lovely day with the hotel being exceptionally helpful as usual.

Glenskirlie Wedding Photography – Mairi & Gavin

For Mairi and Gavins wedding we were back to Glenskirlie House hotel.

We started the day at Mairi parents house in Balloch as she was putting her finishing touches together. A calmer bride I cannot remember meeting before a wedding, totally chilled and carefree. Gavin on the other hand………

Gavin had also unfortunately walked into the open boot of his car a few days before the wedding and a little more photoshop cosmetic work was required with this groom. Still all’s well that ends well.

With a really friendly family and a brilliant couple to work with this was a great wedding to shoot.

Movember – Tash Time at 1500 Photography

1500 Photography has been doing its bit for charity this November.

I have been growing a sponsored mustache for the  prostate cancer charity Movember. You may have seen a few sportsmen and commentators sporting some horrendous facial fuzz over the last few weeks. Im afraid to say that I joined there ranks after my last wedding.

tachIII

Participants usually  start Movember (November 1st) clean shaven and then have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their moustache. During Movember, each ‘Mo Bro’ effectively becomes a walking billboard for men’s health and, via their Mo, raises essential funds and awareness for Movember’s men’s health partner – The Prostate Cancer Charity. To read more or to sponsor me click here MOVEMBER.

There is no such thing as too small a donation – thanks

I kinda like it …….. and god knows its alot easier than running a 10k  !!

2009 Kodak Awards

It was with great excitement Gillian and I made the trek to Newcastle for this years MPA National Awards which incorporated the Kodak Awards. I am sorry to report that we didn’t win. The winner was Ken Lam from Newcastle who won the ‘wedding photographer of the year’ with a lovely shot taken at a pre-wedding portrait shoot in Paris. I am sure Ken’s bride to be is delighted and looking forward to getting her wedding shots taken soon.

Although a little downhearted we are still very proud to get two images into the final 10 of a national competition.

The awards ceremony was a fairly lengthy process so when the lovely Ms Price and myself finally managed to get a picture of the two of us together it was almost midnight (and that’s why I look so ‘tired’ in the shot. Honest.)

Ah well, it gives us something to aim for next year.

Sherbrooke Castle Wedding – Mairi and Ally No2

Another cracking couple for 1500 to photograph.

We started off at Mairi’s parents house before heading off to Ardgowan Evangelical Church in Greenock. As with our previous wedding, Mairi and Ally also had a small post service ‘cup of tea’ reception immediately after the ceremony. We then took a slight detour to the esplanade before heading to Sherbrooke Castle. I haven’t been to Sherbrooke for a few years and it was great to be back – especially now that the upgrade work has finished.

Im sure you will agree that Mairi looked simply stunning, a very classic beauty with Alasdair scrubbing up pretty well too and cutting a real dash in his kilt. I must also mention both families, who were so helpful with the lead up to the wedding and on the day itself with Mairi’s very accomplished family providing much of the music throughout the ceremony. It was an excellent day all round, surrounded by such a lovely bunch of people. Superb
