St Patricks Church Dumbarton to Cameron House – Emma & Thomas

What a fantastic day we had with Emma and Thomas, shooting their wedding at Cameron House. We began the day with Emmas bridal prep shots at home before making our way to the ceremony at St Patricks in Dumbarton. When we go there we completely lucked out with the weather and got some fantastic shot in the grounds of this 5 star venue. We even had a wee bit of luck and got some shots on the jetty without the seaplane.

Emma and Thomas were an absolutely cracking couple and I think it shows from their pictures that we had a really good time with them. One of my most abiding memories from this wedding was actually 24 hours after the event. I returned to Cameron House to shoot another wedding the next day and waiting between shots I bumped into Emma in reception, checking out. She then hoisted her (now packed up) wedding dress over her head (!) and headed out into the heavy rain.

Its funny how quickly things change. Not just the weather but what you can do with a wedding dress too…….

St Andrews Cathedral Glassgow to Lodge on Loch Lomond – Hazel & Chris

What a wonderful scorching day we had for Hazel and Chris’s wedding at St Andrews Cathedral in Glasgow. With the couple both getting ready at the Grand Central and having their reception at Lodge on the Loch, we were spoiled for choice when it came to photo opportunities.

Hazel looked absolutely beautiful, Chris looked very dapper and St Andrews looked truly awesome.

As you can imagine the stunning weather meant that Loch Lomond was absolutely heaving. However once we got back to the Lodge and some welcome shade Chris and Hazel worked with me to produce some simply lovely images. Its funny writing up this blog in July when have been suffering through one of the worst summers I can remember. It makes me look back with even more fondness to Hazels wedding.

Lodge on Loch Lomond Wedding – Lianne & Richard

Here is a little taster from Lianne and Richards lovely wedding at Lodge on Loch Lomond

Despite running a little behind schedule Richard dutifully waited at St Josephs Church in Helensburgh before we made our way over the Luss Pier for the formals shots and Lodge on the Loch for the reception. Something happened on the pier however which was an incredible sight. As we were just getting into the flow of the shots of the day very large boat got closer and closer to the pier. Obviously it had passengers to drop off, in fact, it was a boat full with another wedding !! Two full wedding parties on the one pier. I wonder what the tourists would have made of it?!

Boturich Castle Wedding – Michelle and James

Back to one of my favorite haunts for Michelle and James’s wedding at Boturich Castle.

With a brilliant sunny day, a stunning venue, a handsome couple and Rev Ian Miller officiating there wasnt much else we could have asked for. Rev Miller was in sparkling form and really brought the ceremony to life. As with many couples today, Michelle and James had a special guest at the wedding – daughter Sophie. So it was very important to make sure she was included in as many pictures as possible.

We actually planned out the pictures to allow us a 20 minute break during which time we could shoot a quick family portrait of the couple with little Sophie. It worked a treat and we got some beautiful shots of the 3 of them together. As you can see from above the shots of the couple with the wonderful backdrop turned out ok too!

I was really impressed again with Boturich. Its a simply splendid venue which offers unparalleled views of Loch Lomond and always lends itself to  a really relaxed laid back day. Laura and Ruairidh (the owners) really have weddings here down to a tee and you can be assured of a brilliant day with these guys in charge.

Cameron House Wedding – Alison & Stuart

Another Cameron House Wedding another cracking couple, this time Stuart and Alison.

The couple had come up from Staffordshire to get married on the ‘Bonnie Banks’ although this wasn’t their first visit to Cameron House. Loch Lomond is a regular haunt for both of them, so when they decided to tie the knot, Scotland was the obvious choice. I really enjoy the company of Stuart, who shares my love of awful puns and terrible jokes, and Alison who actually knows more about football then me an Stuart combined……even though she is a Wolves fan.

The day itself was a lovely relaxed wedding. After a civil ceremony the couple had set aside plenty time to allow them to have a mingle and a chat with guests, then some pictures, then some more time with friends. High teas were served while the photographs were taken and when we had finished dinner was served in the newly converted drawing room in Cameron House. Alison and Stuart, although reticent about getting their pictures taken, were absolutely lovely to work with and we came away with a beautiful set of pictures. This is the kind of chilled out vibe all weddings should aim for ………..

Cameron House Wedding/Real Radio Dream Wedding – Lisa and Mark

We were delighted to have been asked to provide the wedding photography at Cameron House for Lisa and Marks ‘Dream Wedding’ on Loch Lomond. You see, Lisa and Mark had won the Real Radio competition as Scotlands “most romantic couple” and as winners enjoyed a fabulous day courtesy of Cameron House and their recommended suppliers

Winning the competition meant that Lisa and Mark only had two weeks to prepare themselves for walking down the aisle!! However with a dress supplied by the Helensburgh Wedding Planner and Mark dressed in his uniform the couple looked absolutely striking. Although the twist on the day was that the wedding took place on the same day as the wedding show, I am delighted to report that Lisa and Mark had a wonderful time and the day went super smoothly.

They were a great couple to work with and it was a brilliant feeling to be part of the Cameron House ‘team’ all pulling together to make something really special come together. I am very proud of my fellow suppliers – we did a cracking job !!

Cameron House Wedding – Jayne and David (On the Celtic Warrior)

Our second wedding of year required our sea legs as we were aboard the Celtic Warrior boat for Jayne and David’s Cameron House Wedding. With a wedding party consisting of just Jayne, David, their son Callum and their two best friends this really was an ‘intimate affair’ (except for me, Kevin the Piper, Rev Ian Miller and 2 crew on the boat).

Callum was an excellent best man and as usual Rev Miller kept the patter going – even answering the phone just as he finished the vows !! You kind of had to be there to see that this was in fact hysterically funny rather than disrespectful but I cannot for the life of my imagine any other Minister getting away with it.

After the ceremony and a little cruise around the Loch (courtesy of, now, Captain Callum) we returned to The Boat House at Cameron House for a few more pictures and a drink and a chat before the wedding party sat down to dinner. It was a fantastic day and a really lovely afternoon on Loch Lomond. Jayne and David had come all the way up from Lancashire to enjoy their day….sometime you really do take whats on your doorstep for granted. A lovely couple and a top day.

Cameron House Wedding – Craig & Zoe

This wedding at Cameron House, between Craig and Zoe, was our last wedding of 2011.

Craig popped the question only 3 weeks before the wedding at the end of November and since then the couple managed to organise everything to make a perfect day on the shores of Loch Lomond. After a lovely civil ceremony we took the couple out to the front door of the hotel for a few ‘trademark’ 1500 shots (that’s all the weather would allow!!) before once again making the very most of the Cameron House interior.

This was a lovely way to sign off 2011, with probably one of the most memorable shots of the year.

Zoe resplendent on the boardroom table !! I have to say that this was just a passing thought from me which was very quickly taken up by Craig and Zoe, next thing you know we have set up a cracking shot which both the couple and myself absolutely delighted with finished shot.

We also had time to shoot a festive version of our big award winning shot featured on the front page of our website. Its a festive twist on Darren and Victoria’s shot also taken at Cameron House. A brilliant finish to a fantastic year for 1500 Photography. I would love to say that we then put our feet up and relaxed but as you will see , 2012 was up and running very soon indeed………

Lodge on the Loch Wedding – Jennifer and Martin (Jennie and Macca)

Scheduled to be our last wedding of 2011, Jennie and Macca’s Wedding at Lodge on the Loch was going to be something special. Not just because it was the last one but also because the couple themselves are a great laugh and were really looking forward to getting their pictures taken. We started off with Jennie getting ready at the Lodge on the Loch before making our way down to beautiful Luss Church for the ceremony.

It had been raining pretty hard the week of the wedding and I have to say that this was the highest I had ever seen Loch Lomond at Luss. There was very little between the pier and the water, as you can see below.

Jennie and Macca were superb out in the chilly December air and gave us some lovely shots, then it was back to the Lodge for a full group of everyone and then dinner and speeches. I must say – the speeches were absolutely fantastic, what a great laugh was had (mostly at Macca’s expense) before the dancing began.

I should mention that the band on the night were the superb ‘The Jiggers‘ and boy did they have their work cut out for them. Getting a room full of English people through a ceilidh is always a spectacle!!  Brilliant day, top couple and some of the best evenings entertainment I have seen for a while.Thank you Jennie and Macca.

Loch Lomond Youth Hostel – Kim and David

This was our first wedding at Loch Lomond Youth Hostel, but not our first wedding with Kim and David.

We had previously worked together at Elspeth and Toms wedding at Cameron House a couple of years ago (Kim was one of the bridesmaids and Dave a dutiful guest). We started Davids day with my first foray into sports photography……. Rather ‘adventurously’ David has organised a full scale 11 a side football match for all the male guests coming to the wedding. I don’t mind telling you I winced at every 50/50 tackle although it should be noted that everyone came through the match unscathed.

cameron house wedding

Then it was onto Cameron House where Kim and the girls were putting together their finishing touches.

Unfortunately the rain on the day did not let up once. So heavy was the rain that you couldnt see Loch Lomond from the Youth Hostel. However we were lucky that both the interior of Cameron House and The Youth Hostel lend themselves rather nicely to photography, so we were not short of oppertunities for great shots.

Kim and Dave also had some of the best table decorations I have ever seen – homemade album covers. They looked absolutely fantastic. A wedding in a Youth Hostel is a brilliantly novel idea. The thought of the guests all sleeping in bunk beds and making their own breakfast in the morning certainly gets the imagination going….

Then, after the wedding, we set our own new record. Within the space of 7 days the album was made up, checked, changed twice, and printed ready for the couple to take away. This is not usual service but a special case as Kim and David live down south and are emigrating early in 2012.

A fantastic couple who take with them to Uganda our love and very best wishes.
